The filing deadline for business tax returns is the 15th day of the third month following the close of the business tax year (for calendar year business the due date is March 15th). For individual taxpayers, tax returns are due on the 15th day of the fourth month following the close of the tax year. Individuals are typically on a calendar basis, so the due date is always April 15th. In the event that the 15th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the return will be due on the next business day. If you are unable to complete the return on or before the due date, you can request an extension to file the return using IRS Form 4868 - For Individuals or IRS Form 7004 - For Business Income Tax Returns.
