Form 1040EZ is reserved for individuals who file their tax return with a status of Single or Married Filing Jointly; do not have any dependents; and are not going to claim any adjustments to their income. It can also be used if you (and your spouse for married couples) are under the age of 65 at the end of the tax year, your total taxable income is under $100,000 (wages, salaries, tips, unemployment compensation), your taxable interest income under $1,500 and you did not receive an advanced Earned Income Credit. In addition, you cannot be involved in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, use Schedule L to compute your standard deduction, or owe any type of household employment tax.
